Provocation

It could just be me, but I think the cleaning woman on our floor is trying to provoke me. On one hand she’s always smiling and waving, telling me how nice my hair looks and referring to me as “my friend”. On the other hand it never fails – every time I tear myself away from my desk and venture down the hall to the ladies room she ALWAYS has it “closed for cleaning.” This is why I’m convinced she’d trying to provoke me.

Just in case you think I’m making it up or exaggerating, I tested my theory I noted the times that our paths crossed and then I purposely switched up the times I went, still she was there. First thing in the morning, mid morning, lunch time, end of the day… she’s always there. Did I mention that there are two ladies rooms on our floor that are very far apart? Did I also mention that no matter which one I go to it’s the one she’s cleaning it at that moment? She’s trying to provoke me!

I will own up to my part in this conflict. It’s not her fault that I get so engrossed in my work that I have to pee like a racehorse by the time I leave my cubicle. I could do better in that regard, but she’s there EVERY time! Are you feeling me on this one? She’s trying to provoke me I tell ya!

But the kicker is this… even if she’s not physically there her cart is blocking the doorway as if to say, “Isunji, don’t go in there I’m about to clean it.” What is that about? Those are the times I squeeze around it and use the restroom anyway in my own personal act of defiance. So maybe in a way I’m trying to provoke her…but she started it!
